"You see, Wendy, when the first baby laughed for the first time, its laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies." James M. Barrie Peter Pan.

"They found this 8ft gator walking in
the VAB [Vehicle Assembly Building] high bay next door to the LCC [Launch Control Center] and made his way inside to the bathroom last night" [ May 2007]
Alligator Captured Inside NASA KSC Building
STATUS REPORTDate Released: Monday, May 21, 2007
Source: Kennedy Space Center
From someone@nasa.gov: Hi Keith, I'd suggest that you call NASA public affairs to confirm this, but somewhere between KSC and JSC, the location of these photos apparently got promoted. I'm told that they were taken on May 14, at a receiving warehouse in the KSC industrial area, several miles south of the VAB. Gator encounters are a common occurrence here, given that we're situated in the middle of a wildlife refuge. Still, it's rare for them to venture inside.

Streaker fail: There and back again
Tom Annandale, 28, of Manchester, stripped while on holiday in Spain and planned to run around a tennis court.
But he failed to notice that the court was enclosed by a glass wall.
A friend filmed Mr Annandale running straight into the glass wall and bouncing off on to his backside before running off in shame. The friend then posted the clip, entitled Streaker Fail, on YouTube and the clip went viral.
"We'd been down the beach surfing and we were having a few beers by the pool," Mr Annandale said.
"Everyone was tired but I thought, if I do a streak round the tennis court, it will make the lads laugh and get everyone up for a night out.
"I didn't realise they were playing in an enclosed court. I am 6ft tall and weigh 16 stone and set off full pelt for my streak.
"It was fine until I hit the glass wall. I split my forehead, bruised my shoulder, knocked my knee and was in agony, but the worst part was the embarrassment.
"I had these stunned tennis players looking at me, all the lads laughing, so I just got up and ran off.
"It's very embarrassing as I am a project manager for a construction company and have about 65 men on site. Obviously, if I'd realised there was a glass door I'd have opened it first."

Understand a Glacier by looking at this Ontario Carport roof ......
Photographer: Jim Bromley; Heather Renyck
Summary Author: Bryce Hand; Heather Renyck
The photo above showing an unusual slab of snow draped over a carport rooftop was snapped in Meaford, Ontario on December 11, 2010. In some ways, it's acting like a wet-base (temperate climate) glacier where basal slippage is facilitated by water at its freezing/melting point. Evidently, the water film was just thin enough so that roughness elements of the shingles kept the entire layer from quickly sliding off. Deformation of the slab involves a number of processes that probably wouldn't have been nearly as effective in keeping the layer intact if it was bent suddenly. Note that the shrubs appear to have stalled or at least slowed the slab's progress. Of course, the snow that forms glacial ice (firn) is very dense, perhaps four or five times more dense than the snow on this roof.

Only Remembered
From YouTube comments
When the TV programme of which this segment is the closing part was planned, Coope Boyes & Simpson were approached - due to their involvement with the revival of First World War songs on their albums, and their concerts at or near the battlefields of the Western Front - asking if they would like to contribute, as their work was felt exceptionally appropriate to complement the poetry. They kindly offered two recordings and the producers chose this one.
