Humans can only walk in circles and we don't know why!

Humans can't walk in straight lines. If there's no fixed point of reference, we just walk in circles and inevitably get lost. Nobody knows why, but researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics have confirmed it in several experiments.

If you walk, drive or sail blindfolded, in the middle of the fog or at night, with no stars in sight, you will not be able to keep a straight line. No matter how hard you try, you will end going in circles because, for some mysterious reason, humans have a tendency to lean to one side more than the other. Some people speculate that this is because one side of the brain is the dominating one. Others point out that the reason may be purely mechanical, because one of our legs is always sightly shorter than the other. But, according to the results of the study, these are not the causes for this unique behavior. At least, there's not one single explanation and it may be a combination of many.

What Fran did on her Thanksgiving Vacation

I swam with Tamara, a former New Orleans dolphin before Katrina destroyed the aquarium where she lived. She and her 2 year old son Palmer were 'OUR' dolphins.

I have always been conflicted when it comes to interacting with animals such as these uber intelligent mammals but this was a total thrill of a lifetime. The trainers were respectful of the dolphins and while it is not natural for them to interact with us like this this is all they've ever known.

I was so excited to 'meet' her, stroke her and let her push my across the bay by pushing her nose firmly into the base of my foot. After a short while, she kicks into 2nd gear and I personally worried I'd be flying into the rock wall! The pic's reflect my concern.

I swam with 'the brat' Palmer and got to see how a juvenile male dolphin can be just a bratty as a little boy. [he kept trying to push my husband's left foot when Tamara pushed his right foot and in the end everything had to stop, reset and Tamara finally pushed him across the Bay].

First I get to say HI!

Then feed her a small fish

Then we cement our relationship before she hurls me across the bay.

This dramatic picture show a clash of the titans as a protective elephant mum and a ferocious crocodile get in an epic tug of war in Zambia.

The female elephant and her baby were drinking from the Luangwa River in the South Luangwa National Park when they were attacked.

Leaping out of the murky waters a vicious crocodile bit down on the female's trunk.
