BBC Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton has completed a 2,000-mile kayak trip along the Amazon for Sport Relief.

The 26-year-old was greeted by cheers and celebratory gunfire as she crossed the finish line in Almerim, Brazil.

Skelton has clocked up 2,010 miles since she set off on her solo journey from Natua in Peru on 20 January.

The BBC star, who had never been in a kayak before training, broke two world records as she became the first woman to paddle the length of the river.

Helen is aiming to become the first woman to kayak the entire length of the famous river in aid of Sport Relief.

Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton has tripled the Guinness World Record for the longest solo journey by kayak as she reached the half-way stage in her epic journey along the Amazon for Sport Relief.

The existing Guinness World Record, set in 2006, stands at 326.98 miles, but Helen Skelton has clocked up more than 1,000 miles in just three weeks as she battles through her adventure.

It has been a remarkable adventure for the Blue Peter presenter who has suffered from sickness, heat exhaustion and, last week, the painful experience of multiple mosquito bites.

SHE'S DONE IT! Helen reached the finish line just before 2pm (UK time) near the town of Almeirim in the Amazon Delta. What an incredible achievement.
