Orange Ice

Icicles hang from oranges in a citrus grove in Plant City, Florida, after sprinklers sprayed water onto the trees to coat the fruit with a protective layer of ice.

Typically, citrus can be damaged by four hours or more of temperatures below 28 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 2 Celsius).

Constant watering protects the fruit via a heat-exchange process: as the water changes to ice, it gives off heat via a fusion process.

Fran has Ice ! I don't remember seeing anything like it in 20 years here. We rarely get this cold this close to the water.
